I STILL feel like crap. STILL!!! Ugh.
This is a tricky little virus. You think you're feeling better, "Hey, I feel good! Think I'll run some errands, lots of errands which will take me far from home. Yeah, great idea!"
Wrong.
Right in the middle of running here and there this tricky little virus rears it's ugly head and all of a sudden you're driving to your next destination which is of course the farthest from home and you MUST FIND A BATHROOM IMMEDIATELY. Not fair!!
Later on I thought I felt better and decided to carry out my plan to make a ginormous pot of chicken soup. What the hell was I thinking?? Let's remove the skin from totally disgusting chicken parts and try not to barf, shall we? I am an IDIOT!
Blech.

A One Way Ticket To Hell On The Cruise Ship Barf
Yup, I got it. I caught the vicious stomach virus taking over the school. I really thought I had escaped. I washed my hands over and over and over, but to no avail. CURSE YOU ANTIBACTERIAL SOAP!!! So here's the thing about working and calling in sick.....GUILT. Yes, I get a bunch of sick days, but still..... I don't know if it's my Catholic upbringing, my "old school" work ethic or just thinking about what my father would say. When I was young, the only time I could stay home from school was if I was dead. How many mornings did I stumble into his bedroom claiming to be sick (Latin test) and have him ask me..."Have you gone to the bathroom lately?" Poop was always the answer. So I learned from this man that constipation was usually the reason for any and all ailments I may suffer and unless dead, I had to go to school. Now back to calling in sick. I need to accept the fact that people really do get sick and that barfing on 6th graders, no matter how annyoning they may be, is not the way to go. Stay home.
I really should go to confession.
I really should go to confession.

Back to the Cruise Ship
Yes, we went back to the cruise ship today - SCHOOL. Dylan was home sick last Thursday and Friday with the stomach virus that had taken over the school - vomit everywhere. As it turns out, by Friday afternoon, 116 children had gone home sick. We only have 325 in the whole school!
Thank God for

and

The fact that I still have skin on my hands is amazing as I washed them about 857 times today. I'm brave. I'll go back tomorrow.

Java Jive
I got busy creating today. I made this

Yes, I took the pic myself. The layout is for an assignment. I've been singing the freakin' song all day long.
So, last night I did a little blog trolling. Is that the right term? Probably not. I checked out some new blogs and met some new friends. I met Beth, Lisa (who lives right here in NY!), and Michelle. I've included links to their blogs. Check them out. The seem like really nice folks, even though Beth told me to stick my head in the oven, but that's an entry for another time.
Michelle is having a cool contest on her blog, scribbit

My Mother/My Self
I love my mother. I've always loved my mother. Did I always like her? Well.....sometimes it was difficult and I am sure, at times, I wasn't all that likeable either, but we've seemed to redefine our roles as mother/daughter and now we're great friends. I enjoy talking to my mother. She lives in California - and I KNOW she's freaking out right now that I've let the whole world (internet) know where she's located. I live in NY - again, freaking out. We usually talk once a week. I wish we lived closer or at least, we could go to CA more often. I like it there.
I recently told my mother about this blog.
*blink *blink
She read it, thought it was cute but then, as I knew she would, she WARNED me of the dangers of all my information being out there on the internet for every creepy, crawly identity stealer to see (insert demonic laugh here)
Mom, I love you. I said it here on my blog for ALL THE WORLD TO SEE (and steal), and I have to tell you something. I think you may worry a little too much. Why do I say that.....because after you WARNED me, you called back 5 minutes later to tell me about some guy who owned some restaurant and had some blog said something about someone at said restaurant and he got fired.
Mom, I appreciate your concern for me, but I'm 40. If I want to drive around on the 4th of July with my windows open, I'm going to. I know you told me not to because someone could throw a firecracker in the car, but I don't care. It's July and it's HOT!
If I want to use the middle dressing room instead of the corner one where no one can steal my packages, I'm going to.
If I want to go to the movies and put my coat and bag on the chair next to me I'm going to, and you know what.....I may not even keep my hand on them through the whole movie!
Mom, when I drive I don't always leave 2 car lengths between me and the car in front of me at a stop light. I usually crawl right up behind them. If they stall and I'm stuck right behind them, I'll just have to deal with it.
Guess what...sometimes I actually talk while eating fish. Haven't choked on a bone yet.
I even use the FRONT burners on the stove!!!!
And please tell me, how do you keep your handbag AND your napkin on your lap in a restaruant???
I think it all started when I was a kid and you told me not to cross my eyes because if time stops, they'll stay that way. Did you know that I used to go down to the basement and cross my eyes like a mad woman because we didn't have any clocks down there. It was my "safe" place.
Mom, I've been doing all these CRAZY things and I've made it to 40 with only a few broken bones.
Life is an adventure. Enjoy it.
Mom, I love you.

Welcome to Pukefest '07!
Dylan is sick.
He has a stomach virus, poor kid. Apparently it's going around the school. The nurse sent over 60 kids home yesterday! The school only has 325! So, we're home again today. Dylan is looking better. He'll spend the day on the couch and hopefully I'll get some scrapping done.
I had a great class the other night. Do I miss teaching? Yeah, I do.
Milissa sent me my vertical storage thingys. I cannot wait to get them!!!
Check out http://www.serendipityscrapbookdesigns.com/.
Love her kits - if you want one, get it QUICK! The sell out FAST!
Milissa is the best. Love her.
So, hopefully I'll have some incredible creations to post later, lol.
Have a good day and don't puke!
2:30pm - Please tell my why a child who has had a stomach virus for 2 days feels the need to do an experiment with his Harry Potter Potion Maker which includes drinking the final product?? WHY!??@

Back to School
I'm teaching a class tonight - no, not art to 3rd graders - a scrapbooking class to real live adults! It's at a local University. I haven't taught a class in over a year. I'm looking forward to it. I love teaching beginner classes. Maybe I'll want to get back into this...hmmmm......
Jen, my teacher, is out today so I get to teach the class, yes, 3rd graders, lol. Should be fun, Aboriginal Art.
I've decided that I need to go back to the gym. Actually, I really want to. I liked it when I went, the trick is just going. I'm really looking forward to doing something for myself. I need that.
It's still freezing here on Long Island, literally freezing. I love it.

It's sooooo cold!
It is 7 degrees right now, not figuring in the wind chill. LOVE IT. It's winter, it's supposed to be cold! As long as I have the right clothes, I don't mind the weather.
Ok, so I watched the ENTIRE Superbowl last night. Yawn. I find football boring. Sorry, but I do. I'd rather watch golf.
How about Prince? How about that image behind the scrim, huh?
I'm running a little late this morning. I have to make sure my hair is completely dry or else my curls will freeze and crack off. Wouldn't THAT be something!
Have a great day!

Superbowl Sunday
Yes, it's Superbowl Sunday - who is playing? I have no idea, I don't care. This Payton Manning person has something to do with it. My parents are coming over for dinner and to watch the game. Surf and turf, yes, shrimp and filets. Not bad for celebrating some dopey game, huh?
Spent yesterday sleeping. I took a 3.5hr nap, then went to bed at 10, got another 10 hours in. Am I tired or sick? I think it's the headaches. I am going to see a doctor about them.
I could use a nap right now - seriously!

An early Spring - ppppbbbbtttttt!
I need a few minutes with Punxsutawney Phil. We've had maybe 5 days of Winter weather here in NY and now he says Spring is on its way?! This global warming thing sucks.
Got my hair did.
I love my curls but they were just getting too long, so I went to a place in town, the guy is creepy, but as Dylan says, "You can take him, Mom'. He gave me a great cut. It's not a curly girl cut,(don't tell my fellow curlies) but it works. I feel great!
We have Scouts in Government Day today. Dylan is the Prosecuting Atty in the case. See, I KNEW all those episodes of Law and Order would come in handy!
I plan on.......scrapping this afternoon. There I said it. If I say it out loud I have to do it, right? Right.

Oh My GOD, It's February??!!!
Wow, it's already February?? Where does the time go? I'm getting old.
I am sitting here at 6am drinking Pepsi. I have a sick stomach. I'm not sick enough to stay home, just enough to make me feel shitty and prevent me from my morning Cup-a-Joe. It's those kids I'm around all day at school. It's a GERM FEST I tell ya, a germ fest.
I have learned that when you're a working mother you use your sick days to stay home when your child is sick, but you go to work when you are sick. Ok, fine. I'm going. Blech. I'd better not feel too sick because I'm getting my curls cut today.
Oh, by the way, has anyone seen my lens cap? Why can't they make a lens cap with a string that is attached to the camera? I'm sure they do, and I'll find out because I have to buy a new one. You know that damn lens cap ran away with my sunglasses which I can't find either.
Ok, this is Little Mary Sunshine signing off. Have a wonderful day.
omg, it's Feb already....
bye.
