Furniture Shopping

So, I need a new dresser.
I've been looking around for a long time.
I know what I want.
I want the dresser my mother has in her
second bedroom.
It's a fantastic old dresser.
She has the ability to find GREAT things
at antique shops, garage sales, etc.
She sees things for what they COULD be.
I see them for what they are
or
what I think they are.
I'm very small minded that way.

Anyway...
I decided to take a look on Craigslist.
Why not, right?

Did you know you could have
ALL THIS for $1!!!

What a bargain.

This, however was my favorite.
It was listed as
ELEGANT DRESSER, MINT CONDITION
Now, who wouldn't click on that.
Well, I did and this picture popped up:

AAAAGGGGGHHHHHH!
I honestly shuddered when I saw it.

I'm finished with Craigslist.
I'm just going to wait for my
parents to go away for the weekend
then I'll sneak in and steal the dresser.
She'll never know.

Terrific Customer Service!

So each Christmas, I try to find
goofy things to put in Dylan's stocking.
This year I discovered Perpetual Kid.
After poking around on their site I picked up a
few goodies for Dylan, such as.....

Well, one of the items I purchased had a little problem
-it didn't work.
So I emailed them and they got back to me IMMEDIATELY.
They gave me some suggestions to try to make the
item work.
It just didn't want to.
I emailed them again.
They emailed me IMMEDIATELY AGAIN
and told me a replacement item was on the way.
Just like that.
They were so friendly, helpful and just plain nice.
So, check them out - Perpetual Kid
They have a lot of fun things.

Done!

So I finished it.
Was it any good? - Yes.
Did I love it? - No.
There was too much nonsense about
mining coal. It just went on for pages and pages
and you know what...I skipped some.
And you know WHAT??
It didn't matter at all - didn't mean anything,
just the author going on and on and on.
That being said, I think I would read another
book by Jonathan Franzen (sorry Karen), but
I will skip over any mention of coal mining.

Snow Day

We got about one foot of snow
on Long Island last night.

SNOW DAY!!

No school for Dylan.
No school for me!!!

My awesome husband Paul shoveled the
walkway and the driveway for us.

My plan for today.....
-sweats
-no make-up
-work on the yearbook (I'm the editor)
-read a little on my KINDLE
-watch the scariest move of all time
with my son.

(the Exorcist scares the sh*t out of me
and I can only watch it during the day because
for some reason I think the devil can't
get me when it's light out.)

I know, I know.

*A little side note: Paul went to a
school dance with Linda Blair.
It was right before she made the movie.
CREEPY!!

Slow Go

This is what I am currently reading:

I like it.
I like it a lot, but guess I don't love it because
I'm able to put it down and I've even fallen
asleep reading it.

OK, here is THE ONE NEGATIVE THING
about the Kindle....

ready.....

It doesn't let you know what page you're on.
It only lets you know how far along you are in
a book by PERCENTAGE.

I've been at 44% in this book FOREVER.

I guess it's my fault.
I have the font at size HUMONGOUS.
Dylan can read it from across the room.
So, even though I've been reading for
hours I've only plowed through 8 pages.

It's exhausting!

One Day

Read it yesterday.
When I got home from work.
While I was cooking dinner.
Stayed up until 12:15.
Had to finish it.

It's about a Harvard professor who is diagnosed
with Early Onset Alzheimer's Disease. The story
is told month by month.
Great book!

I
LOVE
MY
KINDLE.

At the rate I'm going, I figure I'll spend about
$3646.65 on books this year.

Hmmmmm.
The Kindle makes it too easy.

I better start watching TV again.

Kindle Love

I Love it.

I've read two books in one week.
The first was

I'd heard about this book, but wasn't really sure what it was about.
It was very good, I couldn't put it down, however,
it was one of the most disturbing books I've ever read.
It actually made me sick to my stomach at the end. I had
to take a break
That being said, I recommend it.
It's a good study on nature vs. nurture.

The second book I read was

LOVED
LOVED
LOVED IT!!
I could almost pick it up and read it again right now.
So good.

I don't read as much as I'd like to.
I tend to go through spurts.
I think the Kindle may help me out.
I can search for a book, request a sample,
and if I like it, buy it on-line and it's in my
hands right away.
Love it!

Christmas Loot!

I had a great Christmas.
I received EVERYTHING on my list
.....and then some!

Pasta Bowls - everyday white from Bed Bath and Beyond. They are huge and bright. Will look great with my red placemats. Love em.

A Calphalon grilling pan. I've wanted one for a long time.

An immersion blender, for soups and whatever else.

New Mac Make-up brushes!

Yummy Jo Malone Grapefruit Perfume!

Beautiful pearl earrings! (I've had my others since high school. Time for a new pair!)

A "fancy" snuggie in cranberry.
Stop laughing.

And....A KINDLE!! I had actually put it on my list but then crossed it off.
Big surprise!!!! Love it!!

Thank you Santa!

Back on Track

Ok, so it's Wednesday.
I've been sick since Saturday.
Sick like, sick-in-bed sick.
Today is the first day I feel somewhat normal
so I am going shopping
Yesterday I was able to wrap all the presents
I have and see where I have to fill in.

I have a lot of filling in to do.

Note to self:

Venti Mocha Frappa Fruppa

So what's crazier:
The fact that there were 9 people
on line in front of me this morning
OR
The fact that I waited?!
