Totally Creepy!

Just finished reading

I'm not sure how I happened upon it.
I think it was recommended on my Amazon account
because I read

-which happened to be a great book.
Totally disturbing, but really great.
Anyway,
I just finished The Girl Next Door.
Apparently the author, Jack Ketchum, writes books that
give Stephen King nightmares!
I can understand that.
The book is sort of a morality test.
The things that happen, are , well, very disturbing.
I often had to take a break after reading a chapter.
I didn't hate it.
I even looked at another book by Ketchum.
The synopsis scared the crap out of me!
I'm moving on.

A Little Stress Goes A Long Way

So, I have a few things going on in my life.

Dylan has some health issues.

Work is crazy busy, we have a big event
coming up and I have a yearbook deadline
that has come and gone and I am no where
near being finished with it.

Then my back started itching.
And itching.
REALLY itching.

No, it's not shingles - I had that already!

Went to the doctor.
He takes a look and says,
"So, anything going on in your life?"

HELLO???!!!

Eczema - due to stress.

I AM AM SO ITCHY!!!!!!
I feel like I am going to rip my skin off!

The doctor gave me a steroid cream
and some Xanax.

Steroids and Xanax.
Quite a combo.

Admission

Since
I work at a private, independent prep school.
I work closely with the administration.
I have a child in high school.
I thought I would enjoy this novel which is
about a Princeton admissions officer and the
process of college admissions.

It was pretty good.
Now, I'm a tough critic.
In ordre for me to consider a book to be a
FANTASTIC
book, I have to not be able to put it down.
I have to read into the wee hours of the morning.

I could put this one down.
It was good, but I was looking forward to
getting on to the next book.

I give it a B.

Resistible

So I just finished reading this:

It was.......good.
It was.....just fine.
It was a lot like Forrest Gump, tales from a man's life
from the time he was an infant, growing up in a
very "interesting" HOUSE.
Throughout his life he comes in contact with some
very famous people, a la Gump.
It was a pretty good read, nothing deep.
The only really problem I had, was with the ending.
The ending pretty much summed up the way
the book was written: it just happened, didn't
explain all that much, but that was just fine.
All in all I found the Irresistible Henry House
pretty resistible - but an okay read.

Sunday Dinner with Paula Dean

I tried something new for dinner tonight.
I made a Paula Dean Recipe
Lady and Sons' Chicken in Wine Sauce
I WISH I had taken pictures of this meal prep.
It was so good and so easy!

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
BUTTER (it is Paula Dean after all)
8 slices of swiss cheese
1 can cream of chicken soup
1/4 c of white wine
1 c seasoned stuffing mix.

Grease a shallow pan.
Add chicken.
Top with cheese
Mix soup and wine
Pour over chicken
Top with stuffing
pour 4 Tbs of melted butter over top
Bake at 350 for 45 minutes.

Ok, sounds good, right?
Well, I made a few adjustments.
AWESOME adjustments!
My additions are in bold type.

6 chicken breasts
top them with prosciutto and make sure it's not too thin
then add swiss cheese
add fresh sliced mushrooms
use 2 cans of cream of mushroom soup
mix with 1/2 c of white wine
pour over chicken
Top with 1 c of stuffing ( I used Arnold stuffing mix because it's not too salty)
THEN fill in with Italian flavored Panko bread crumbs.
Pour 5 TBS butter over.
Bake at 350 for 45 minutes.
Serve with rice.

SO GOOD.

Friday Book Review

So, in the past two weeks I've read two books.

Continuing with my Mormon obsession,
I read:

Not bad.
It's about a second wife in a polygamist family.
It's a true story and, well, really , just crazy.
I love that stuff!
I don't think I'm quite finished with my polygamy obsession.
I found a few more books about it that I'd like to tackle.
AND
I've decided that I want a sister wife - just so she can clean my house.

I just finished:

Very good book about a condition known as left neglect.
Never heard of it.
Good book, like her writing a lot.
This author also wrote one of my favorite books, which is about Alzheimers:

She's very good at putting into words what people affected
by life altering conditions are going through.
(Much MUCH better than I am because it took
me a long time to write that sentence and it still sucks.)

So, I've read 14 books so far this year.
36 more to go to reach my goal for the year.
I LOVE MY KINDLE!!
