Snow Day!
We were supposed to go back to school today after winter break, but guess what......we got a SNOW DAY!!! Bonus!
Dylan is at a friend's house, the mom said he could stay until Thursday. I may just take her up on it.
I'm working on a layout but having trouble matching paper, so in the meantime I'm singing along with Oingo Boingo - loudly.
Had a good weekend. Dylan graduated from cub scouts to boy scouts. We're very proud of him. He's ready to be an Eagle scout, and you know what...I know he'll make it.
I watched the Oscars last night, even though I didn't see any of the movies. I was glad Jennifer Hudson won. Why? I don't know, and I thought Eddie Murphy would win, again, I don't know why. As I said, I didn't see any of the performances. I need to get out more, or at least update my Netflix queue.

Creating part deux
I started working on this little recipe tag book yesterday. You see, if I have a recipe with more than 3 ingredients, no matter how many times I make the thing, I cannot seem to remember it. So, I got this cute little Junkitz tag book from one of Milissa's kits and decided to make it work for me. It's haging up right now, matches my kitchen. Love it.

The boys are having a lazy junk food Saturday, watching movies. Think I'll go create some more stuff.

Creating
The mojo is flowing today. Did this in about 20 minutes. I like it.

That's Zsiage paper that WORLDWIN sent me. It was fun to work with.
Just got back from lunch with my friend Darlene. We haven't seen each other in ages. I had a caesar salad with shrimp. It had a very light vinagrette type dressing and apparently a TON of garlic. I don't eat garlic, it doesn't like me. Now, since I never eat it, I can't tell when it's in my food. I thought those little "pieces" were cheese. I really hope my body has decided to accept the fact that most civilized people eat garlic. If not, I'll be in trouble, the barfing kind. Ugh.
The cub scouts are descending on our house today FOR THE LAST TIME!!!!! Yes, today is the final cub scout meeting! Can I get an AMEN! Paul has planned a pizza party for them. I'll be hiding upstairs creating.

Torture
Ask any 10 year old boy, "what is the WORST possible way to spend your day?" and I'm sure he would answer....
"Clothes shopping with my mom, FOR my mom."
Guess what we did today.....yup. I dragged him around with me, even into the dressing rooms. He's 10 and this is NY, I can't leave him just standing around in the ladies clothing dept. He was so patient. We went to Sears - had to return some Lands' End stuff. I kept saying, "oh, just one more thing, just let me look over here, just let me try this on, wait, let me check this out." He didn't complain. To reward him, we went downstairs and he played on the ellipticals for awhile. Actually, so did I. Of course I like the Nordic Trac, only $1000.
I have to remember to put my hair pins away after I'm finished with them in the morning or else THIS happens.

Give me a break.....
I STILL feel like crap. STILL!!! Ugh.
This is a tricky little virus. You think you're feeling better, "Hey, I feel good! Think I'll run some errands, lots of errands which will take me far from home. Yeah, great idea!"
Wrong.
Right in the middle of running here and there this tricky little virus rears it's ugly head and all of a sudden you're driving to your next destination which is of course the farthest from home and you MUST FIND A BATHROOM IMMEDIATELY. Not fair!!
Later on I thought I felt better and decided to carry out my plan to make a ginormous pot of chicken soup. What the hell was I thinking?? Let's remove the skin from totally disgusting chicken parts and try not to barf, shall we? I am an IDIOT!
Blech.

A One Way Ticket To Hell On The Cruise Ship Barf
Yup, I got it. I caught the vicious stomach virus taking over the school. I really thought I had escaped. I washed my hands over and over and over, but to no avail. CURSE YOU ANTIBACTERIAL SOAP!!! So here's the thing about working and calling in sick.....GUILT. Yes, I get a bunch of sick days, but still..... I don't know if it's my Catholic upbringing, my "old school" work ethic or just thinking about what my father would say. When I was young, the only time I could stay home from school was if I was dead. How many mornings did I stumble into his bedroom claiming to be sick (Latin test) and have him ask me..."Have you gone to the bathroom lately?" Poop was always the answer. So I learned from this man that constipation was usually the reason for any and all ailments I may suffer and unless dead, I had to go to school. Now back to calling in sick. I need to accept the fact that people really do get sick and that barfing on 6th graders, no matter how annyoning they may be, is not the way to go. Stay home.
I really should go to confession.

Back to the Cruise Ship
Yes, we went back to the cruise ship today - SCHOOL. Dylan was home sick last Thursday and Friday with the stomach virus that had taken over the school - vomit everywhere. As it turns out, by Friday afternoon, 116 children had gone home sick. We only have 325 in the whole school!
Thank God for

and

The fact that I still have skin on my hands is amazing as I washed them about 857 times today. I'm brave. I'll go back tomorrow.

Java Jive
I got busy creating today. I made this

Yes, I took the pic myself. The layout is for an assignment. I've been singing the freakin' song all day long.
So, last night I did a little blog trolling. Is that the right term? Probably not. I checked out some new blogs and met some new friends. I met Beth, Lisa (who lives right here in NY!), and Michelle. I've included links to their blogs. Check them out. The seem like really nice folks, even though Beth told me to stick my head in the oven, but that's an entry for another time.
Michelle is having a cool contest on her blog, scribbit

My Mother/My Self
I love my mother. I've always loved my mother. Did I always like her? Well.....sometimes it was difficult and I am sure, at times, I wasn't all that likeable either, but we've seemed to redefine our roles as mother/daughter and now we're great friends. I enjoy talking to my mother. She lives in California - and I KNOW she's freaking out right now that I've let the whole world (internet) know where she's located. I live in NY - again, freaking out. We usually talk once a week. I wish we lived closer or at least, we could go to CA more often. I like it there.
I recently told my mother about this blog.
*blink *blink
She read it, thought it was cute but then, as I knew she would, she WARNED me of the dangers of all my information being out there on the internet for every creepy, crawly identity stealer to see (insert demonic laugh here)
Mom, I love you. I said it here on my blog for ALL THE WORLD TO SEE (and steal), and I have to tell you something. I think you may worry a little too much. Why do I say that.....because after you WARNED me, you called back 5 minutes later to tell me about some guy who owned some restaurant and had some blog said something about someone at said restaurant and he got fired.
Mom, I appreciate your concern for me, but I'm 40. If I want to drive around on the 4th of July with my windows open, I'm going to. I know you told me not to because someone could throw a firecracker in the car, but I don't care. It's July and it's HOT!
If I want to use the middle dressing room instead of the corner one where no one can steal my packages, I'm going to.
If I want to go to the movies and put my coat and bag on the chair next to me I'm going to, and you know what.....I may not even keep my hand on them through the whole movie!
Mom, when I drive I don't always leave 2 car lengths between me and the car in front of me at a stop light. I usually crawl right up behind them. If they stall and I'm stuck right behind them, I'll just have to deal with it.
Guess what...sometimes I actually talk while eating fish. Haven't choked on a bone yet.
I even use the FRONT burners on the stove!!!!
And please tell me, how do you keep your handbag AND your napkin on your lap in a restaruant???
I think it all started when I was a kid and you told me not to cross my eyes because if time stops, they'll stay that way. Did you know that I used to go down to the basement and cross my eyes like a mad woman because we didn't have any clocks down there. It was my "safe" place.
Mom, I've been doing all these CRAZY things and I've made it to 40 with only a few broken bones.
Life is an adventure. Enjoy it.
Mom, I love you.
