Skirts and Shoes and More

I'm on a kick.
I've been running around buying skirts
and shoes to go with them.
Here are the latest....

I'm loving this skirt. Sorry I can't get a larger picture.
It's from Land's End.
It's actually a skort.
I hate that word.
Skort.
Is it so difficult to say skirt with shorts that it has to
be shortened into this stupid word - skort.
Anyway - I really like it.
AND I found these great shoes that go perfectly
not only with this skirt but with my little paisley number below.

Sorry, I could only find a pic of them in blue. Mine are this color:

I also found a bathing suit that I LOVE.

I love the halter top and it has a tiny bit of draping across the legs in the front.
Not enough to be a skirt, but just a little bit to add a
little something, well, actually to hide a little something.
I have it in black. I think I need it in brown too.
I'm waiting for this to come in the mail......

Wouldn't it be nice if it made my legs look like that?
Sigh.
***Update: my skirts are NOT technically skorts (thank God!).
They are skirts, look like skirts all the way around BUT
they have shorts underneath, which is of good because
they are kind of short and if you're not careful
you'll pull a Britney Spears as you're getting out
of the car.
It's good to have shorts on underneath.

Revving Up.

Well, we've been out of school for a week now
and camp starts in 12 days.
TWELVE DAYS!!!!
I'm really looking forward to it
but I have a lot to do to prepare.
For those of you who aren't aware...
This will be my 5th summer as
a camp counselor, my 3rd at this
camp, which is our school's camp.
I love camp which is pretty
funny because I pretty much hate
-summer
-the outdoors
-athletics
I'm more of a
-central air conditioning
-old movie watching
-taking it slow
kind of girl.
My idea of the perfect summer day
is lying on a pool float getting a tan
NOT
running around playing ultimate frisbee
but that is what my life has become and
you know what?
I love it.
This summer I will again be running the
drama program. We're going to do ANNIE.
I'm also teaching an acting class and...
ready for this........
Karaoke.
I'm calling it Kerryoke.
Yeah, yesterday I was at a karaoke store -
did you know they had those -
buying every Hannah Montanna cd they had.
Shoot me now.

Lately....

Well, first of all....
SCHOOL IS OVER!
I can't believe it.
It went so quickly.

Also - I SLEPT last night!!!!!!
Hurray!

Had a great day with Dylan today.
We went to the mall, had lunch,
hung out in the Apple store,
went to Abercrombie - got lots
of new things and now we're watching

If you ever want to get closer to your children
try watching this show.
They cling to you.....literally.

sucks.
We're going on 3 nights now and I can't sleep.
It could be the heat.
It reached 100 today and my house is very
good at holding onto heat......except in the winter.
I guess it could be the iced tea I was drinking.
Maybe it's the nap I take each day.
Well, whatever it is I AM WIDE AWAKE at 1am
and I have to work tomorrow.
AND I'm subbing in 3rd grade - I NEED my sleep!

Bragging "Bout the Kid

Dylan has had a pretty good week,
well, with one exception.

He ran for and won a spot on the
Executive Board for the student council.

He was on the winning team for the
Stock Market Game in our region (NY).
They were invited to an awards ceremony.

He had to give a speech on behalf of his team.

The "one exception" to his week......
He bruised his kidney.
How?
By running a race at field day and diving across
the finish line in order to win.
He hit hard.
But he won.

So Much Going On.......

It's June and there is so much
going on around here.
I have much to write about but
first things first......
I PUT ON TOO MUCH PERFUME THIS
MORNING AND I STINK!
I'M MAKING MYSELF GAG!!!!
BLECH!

Knock Off

So I go to the mall.
I want some new clothes.
I walk by Cold Water Creek.
Have you ever been there?
Not me, but something caught my
eye so I went in.
So I'm looking around and what do I see????
THIS:

I look down at my arm. Hanging from it,
looking very fashionable is THIS:

I do a double take.
I do a triple take.
I grab the green bag and scrupulously
check it out, including the price tag.
$89.00.
EIGHTY NINE DOLLARS!!!!!
Let's just say that my orange bag cost a little more.
Like FOUR TIMES MORE!
Now if you'll look back a few posts you'll see that
I was seriously considering picking up my orange
bag's green sibling.
I decided to adopt instead.
I'm a happy girl :-)

Once A Week

This once a week blogging thing isn't
really working for me. I have to remember
my Blogger password and as my loved ones
already know - I have this problem with memory.

Not much has been happening.
Just counting down the days until
SCHOOL IS OVER!!!!!!!
Ask me, go ahead, ask me.
14 days.
And three of them are 1/2 days.

Another thing to look forward to....
Mother is coming for a visit.
*blink * blink*
Yup.
Mother.
Here is a repost about Mother's visit last year.
Enjoy.

Take Your Mother To Work Day

Did you know that May 18th is
TAKE YOUR MOTHER TO WORK DAY?
Well, it is.
I started it.
This is the first
TAKE YOUR MOTHER TO WORK DAY ever.
I highly recommend that you participate.
Your mother would love to know what you
do all day so she can tell you
how you could do it better.
My mother flew in from CA last night and will
be COMING TO WORK WITH ME today.
This morning:
we will attempt to get ready at the same time
we will sit in traffic together.
we will take Xanax together.
I will take her on a tour of the school
hiding her from the Headmaster.
"Mom, take a look in this supply closet......"
She will sit in on Dylan's English class.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
She will attend one of my art classes
and I will have to explain to all the 6th graders
why my mommy is there.
"Because it's TAKE YOUR MOTHER TO WORK DAY"
..and they will all give me strange looks and decide
right then and there that they will drop out of school,
mooch off of friends and relatives for the rest of their
lives and never get jobs so they won't have to
TAKE THEIR MOTHERS TO WORK with them, EVER.

Catching Up

Lots to catch up on.

Last Sunday: Confirmation
Yes, Dylan is now a full fledged Christian.
The mass was wonderful.
The pastor invited each child to
share a talent they had.
Dylan played the violin and Paul accompanied him
on the piano. I was so proud of them.

Last week: art show.
BIG art show.
It's called the Celebration of the Arts.
We display ALL the kid's art WORK
for the year, there is a concert and general
mayhem. The kids love it.
I do too but I am so glad it's over.
I feel like I can finally relax.
EXHALE

Sunday: Mother's Day AND Dad's Birthday
Paul cleaned the house.
Made dinner the night before.
I picked up a couple of things for myself for the occasion:
My favorite perfume: Caylx

And how about this bag???!!!!
It's from Cole Haan and it is absolutely fabulous!
I've been looking at it and when I actually see it in the store
I can't breathe I love it so much.
So.......I bought it.

The pic doesn't do the color justice.
It's ORANGE!!!! REAL ORANGE!!!!!
Here are a couple more pics so you can share my joy.

And here is is in green.

Uh oh.
I think I'm having trouble breathing again.
I may have to get this one too.
