Knock Off

So I go to the mall.
I want some new clothes.
I walk by Cold Water Creek.
Have you ever been there?
Not me, but something caught my
eye so I went in.
So I'm looking around and what do I see????
THIS:

I look down at my arm. Hanging from it,
looking very fashionable is THIS:

I do a double take.
I do a triple take.
I grab the green bag and scrupulously
check it out, including the price tag.
$89.00.
EIGHTY NINE DOLLARS!!!!!
Let's just say that my orange bag cost a little more.
Like FOUR TIMES MORE!
Now if you'll look back a few posts you'll see that
I was seriously considering picking up my orange
bag's green sibling.
I decided to adopt instead.
I'm a happy girl :-)

Please watch this.
It's 10 minutes long, but worth it.
Thanks.

Once A Week

This once a week blogging thing isn't
really working for me. I have to remember
my Blogger password and as my loved ones
already know - I have this problem with memory.

Not much has been happening.
Just counting down the days until
SCHOOL IS OVER!!!!!!!
Ask me, go ahead, ask me.
14 days.
And three of them are 1/2 days.

Another thing to look forward to....
Mother is coming for a visit.
*blink * blink*
Yup.
Mother.
Here is a repost about Mother's visit last year.
Enjoy.

Take Your Mother To Work Day

Did you know that May 18th is
TAKE YOUR MOTHER TO WORK DAY?
Well, it is.
I started it.
This is the first
TAKE YOUR MOTHER TO WORK DAY ever.
I highly recommend that you participate.
Your mother would love to know what you
do all day so she can tell you
how you could do it better.
My mother flew in from CA last night and will
be COMING TO WORK WITH ME today.
This morning:
we will attempt to get ready at the same time
we will sit in traffic together.
we will take Xanax together.
I will take her on a tour of the school
hiding her from the Headmaster.
"Mom, take a look in this supply closet......"
She will sit in on Dylan's English class.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
She will attend one of my art classes
and I will have to explain to all the 6th graders
why my mommy is there.
"Because it's TAKE YOUR MOTHER TO WORK DAY"
..and they will all give me strange looks and decide
right then and there that they will drop out of school,
mooch off of friends and relatives for the rest of their
lives and never get jobs so they won't have to
TAKE THEIR MOTHERS TO WORK with them, EVER.

Catching Up

Lots to catch up on.

Last Sunday: Confirmation
Yes, Dylan is now a full fledged Christian.
The mass was wonderful.
The pastor invited each child to
share a talent they had.
Dylan played the violin and Paul accompanied him
on the piano. I was so proud of them.

Last week: art show.
BIG art show.
It's called the Celebration of the Arts.
We display ALL the kid's art WORK
for the year, there is a concert and general
mayhem. The kids love it.
I do too but I am so glad it's over.
I feel like I can finally relax.
EXHALE

Sunday: Mother's Day AND Dad's Birthday
Paul cleaned the house.
Made dinner the night before.
I picked up a couple of things for myself for the occasion:
My favorite perfume: Caylx

And how about this bag???!!!!
It's from Cole Haan and it is absolutely fabulous!
I've been looking at it and when I actually see it in the store
I can't breathe I love it so much.
So.......I bought it.

The pic doesn't do the color justice.
It's ORANGE!!!! REAL ORANGE!!!!!
Here are a couple more pics so you can share my joy.

And here is is in green.

Uh oh.
I think I'm having trouble breathing again.
I may have to get this one too.

OCG

The people across the street from us have OCG.
Obsessive Compulsive Gardener.
Now, we all have our "issues". Apparently, I
seem to have mine plus other people's and as
soon as I find out who those people are, I'm
calling them to come pick up their "issues", I've
got enough going on.
Anyway, back to Obsessive Compulsive Gardener.
I feel bad for the guy. With all the things he has
to do, it takes him hours to mow the lawn.
HOURS!
Here are a few of his rituals....
-open and close the truck door 4 times.
-walk around the truck 12 times.
-bang the grass cuttings out of the trash 4 times in a row,
by hitting the bin on the ground then making a rhythmic beating
on the side of it. It has a nice beat but you can't dance to it.
Please note, I AM NOT making fun of this guy.
I find him fascinating.
I've sat at my window and watched
him go though all these things.
One day I watched him pick up a pen from the dashboard
and put it back - 12 times in a row.
How does this poor guy get through the day??
I hope he knows he can take meds for these things.
Maybe I should offer him some of mine......

Craziness and Book Reviews.

It's been crazy around here.
We had such a relaxing vacation and I thought
we'd just slide back into "real life".
I was wrong.
We were SLAMMED back in.
We're right back to running around like
chickens with our heads cut off.
-running Dylan to violin, religion, baseball.
-trying to come up with dinner on the run.
-LAUNDRY!
You know, every day stuff.

Well, I promised reviews of the books I read over vacation.
Here you go......

The Road.
Wow.
Powerful book.
It's the story of a father and son trying to survive
after some sort of devastating event that destroys life as we know it.
Yes, I know. I'm being vague, but I don't want to give it away.
The story is compelling and the images are powerful, some even
terrifying. I was sure I was going to have nightmares,
but couldn't put the book down.
Read it.

Next:

The Memory Keeper's Daughter.
Am I the only person on earth who hated this book??
Everyone I know said, "Oh it's soooooo good."
"Oooooh, I couldn't put it down!"
"I can't wait for the movie!."
Blech.
Hated it.
Sappy.
Stupid.
Lame.
Am I getting my point across?
I kept reading it because I thought, "but everyone loves this book....."
I even watched the movie after I read it.
I wasted two hours of my life on that dreck.
Pass on it.

Finally:

Eat Pray Love.
Well, the jury is still out on this one.
I raced through the Eat part - figures, right?
I'm stuck in the Pray section.
It's good, but I judge a book on whether or not I can put it down.
I can put this one down.
But I can also pick it up.
I like her style of writing.
She reminds me of Heather Armstrong - Dooce blog.
I'll try to finish it by Christmas and let you know what I think
because I know you are hanging on my every word!
