Yikes!

So, I'm at the Hess station getting gas.
As I walk in to pay, this drives up

Now, since I own this little baby.....

I feel it is my duty to talk to every Beetle owner I run into
and discuss how much we love our cars.
I feel like I'm in the REALLY CUTE CAR CLUB.
Dylan thinks I'm crazy.

Anyway, the woman's window is open so as I walk past I say,
Me - "Ok, how much do you love your car?"
Her - "I know! I love it!"
Me - "I never saw one that color, it's great!"
Her - "You know how I got this car? I WON it!"
Me - "Really?"
Her - "No, well, it was donated to me."
Me - "Ok."
Her - "And look how much room there is!!
I'm 6'1" and look at me!
I COULD GET IT ON IN THIS CAR!"

Me - "YIKES!"

I really have to stop talking to strangers.

Tiger Mother

So, I have a nasty, nasty cold.
One good thing is that I've been able
to do a lot of reading.
I was able to finish

I started reading it this week.
I read a few reviews of the book and they were
not positive, but I thought I'd give it a try.
I really liked it.
Do I agree with her parenting style?
Absolutely not, but as my boss said,
she does make fun of herself, which makes
her likable.
Do I think she's a nut. Yes, I do.
I highly recommend this book.
I also read this:

Oh my god, I hated it.
I only completed it in 2 days because I wanted
to be done with it!
It wasn't what I expected and
I thought it would be more like Still Alice.
I was wrong, but completing it brought
me a little closer to my goal of reading
50 books this year.
So far, I've only hit 2 duds.
Not bad.

Biopsy

So, Dylan has been having some kidney
issues since September.
We've been seeing a
Pediatric Nephrologist (kid's kidney doc)
and she decided Dylan needed a biopsy.

So, Wednesday morning, bright and early
we head over to the hospital.
Of course, he brought is iPhone and computer with him.

He was in great spirits.

Here he is in the recovery room.
Unfortunately, the doctor decided NOT to put him out.
He only had a local.....and the procedure hurt.

It hurt A LOT.

We saw a doctor walking around with a cooler and I said,
"Hey, there's Dylan's kidney!!"
I was joking, but apparently I was right.
The cooler held little pieces of Dylan's kidney and was being
sent to NY Presbyterian for a look-see.

He had to drink a lot before he was able to be discharged,
just to make sure things were working.

He was feeling better.

This is what it looked like -

Can you see the swelling?

That's what happens when they stick a 9 inch needle in your back!
Here he is recovering in my bed.

He was in a lot of pain and stayed home for 3 days.
He's a trooper.

9 Down, 41 To Go

So, I just finished

Meh.....
So the woman was abducted and raped by her kidnapper.
She gets away.
Now she wants to go see him in prison???
WHY???
Dumb.

I would not do that.

Anyway, I stuck with it.
I needed something easy to get through after
finally giving up on

I have one thing to say about this book....
A TALKING TURD?
REALLY, Mr. Franzen??

9 books since Christmas.
41 more to go to reach my goal for 2011.

Very Sad

Sad day today.
A good friend of mine,
someone I work with -
her husband was killed in
a car accident this morning.
She has two little girls.
Please send good thoughts.
Sad day.

New Look

So, as you can see, I'm trying out
a new look for my blog.
Actually, it happened accidentally,
but here we are.

What do you think?
Too busy?

Let me know!

Like Trudging Through 4 Feet of (Yellow) Snow

Ugh, I just cannot get through this book
and yet, I feel I must finish it.

Please give me permission to delete this
babbling mess from my Kindle never to
be looked at again.

Please?

Of the Gods

So, as we get older, our sleep patterns change.
We tend to wake up earlier.
Hello?!!
That is me!!
That's where I am folks!

I have always been a morning person.
I get up at 5am and I'm happy to do so.
I like to have some alone time.

Well, lately I've been waking up at
3:30.
AM.
FOR THE DAY!

Oh sure, again, I like to have some alone time,
but come 2pm, I am DONE.

Well, my darling husband suggested I try

(fanfare please)

This stuff is of the Gods.
Apparently it regulates your sleep cycles.
So now I can get up at 3:30,
go to the bathroom (sorry, but that's what I'm doing, get over it)
and GO BACK TO SLEEP!!

SOOO happy!!!! (and rested!)

Two Idiots

(Sorry about the spots on the pictures. My lens
must be filthy)

Here are my boys:
My husband Paul and our son Dylan:\
They like to horse around...A LOT.

They rough house ALL THE TIME.
It's like I have two kids instead of a teenager
and a GROWN MAN.
They make me crazy and I usually end up yelling
"KNOCK IT OFF YOU TWO IDIOTS!!"

Well, the other night, they were at it again.
Dylan was jumping on the bed "fighting" with his father
and then apparently went flipping off the bed.

CRASH!!
I run into the room to find this:

Yeah, his elbow went right into the wall.
He's fine.
Paul didn't yell at him, made sure he was fine.
This is what it looks like:

You know what - soon they were right back to horsing around.
Two idiots.
