So, I'm at the grocery store this morning.
I'm in the produce aisle.
I hear these two guys talking....
"Do we need more broccoli?"
"Why, I think we have 1/2 a crown, isn't' that enough?"
"I think we need a whole crown."
So I'm thinking....gay.
Love gay guys.
Love the gays.
So I sneak a look and they are two very good
looking guys, with earrings, talking about produce.
Gay.
So then I hear....
"We need Bailey's for the soup."
Now I am totally thinking they are cool.
They are going to put Bailey's Irish Cream in
some broccoli soup they are making.
I want to party with them!!
So for some reason, as I pass them the next time
-are you ready for it -
I grab one of them by the arm and ask.....
"What kind of soup are you making that you have
to put Bailey's in it?" (thinking I'm hip and cool talking to the
two gay guys I'm spying on)
blink*blink
They just look at me.
I said,"Oh, sorry, I overheard you saying you were going
to put Bailey's in your soup."
They both look at me like, you poor, sad housewife.
They then say....
"BAY LEAVES". (you ass)
They didn't say "you ass".
They didn't have to.
The looks they gave me said it all.
I should really mind my own business.

I Like To Cook
I like to cook.
I really like to cook when I have a whole day
to prep and mix and braise and whatever.
I like to cook big, time consuming meals.
Two weeks ago I made Braised Short Ribs.
I saw the recipe on a cooking show called
Mad Hungry and decided to try it.
It
Was
Great.
Here is a pic:

Furniture Shopping
So, I need a new dresser.
I've been looking around for a long time.
I know what I want.
I want the dresser my mother has in her
second bedroom.
It's a fantastic old dresser.
She has the ability to find GREAT things
at antique shops, garage sales, etc.
She sees things for what they COULD be.
I see them for what they are
or
what I think they are.
I'm very small minded that way.
Anyway...
I decided to take a look on Craigslist.
Why not, right?
Did you know you could have
ALL THIS for $1!!!

What a bargain.
This, however was my favorite.
It was listed as
ELEGANT DRESSER, MINT CONDITION
Now, who wouldn't click on that.
Well, I did and this picture popped up:

AAAAGGGGGHHHHHH!
I honestly shuddered when I saw it.
I'm finished with Craigslist.
I'm just going to wait for my
parents to go away for the weekend
then I'll sneak in and steal the dresser.
She'll never know.

Terrific Customer Service!
So each Christmas, I try to find
goofy things to put in Dylan's stocking.
This year I discovered Perpetual Kid.
After poking around on their site I picked up a
few goodies for Dylan, such as.....

Well, one of the items I purchased had a little problem
-it didn't work.
So I emailed them and they got back to me IMMEDIATELY.
They gave me some suggestions to try to make the
item work.
It just didn't want to.
I emailed them again.
They emailed me IMMEDIATELY AGAIN
and told me a replacement item was on the way.
Just like that.
They were so friendly, helpful and just plain nice.
So, check them out - Perpetual Kid
They have a lot of fun things.

Done!

So I finished it.
Was it any good? - Yes.
Did I love it? - No.
There was too much nonsense about
mining coal. It just went on for pages and pages
and you know what...I skipped some.
And you know WHAT??
It didn't matter at all - didn't mean anything,
just the author going on and on and on.
That being said, I think I would read another
book by Jonathan Franzen (sorry Karen), but
I will skip over any mention of coal mining.

Snow Day
We got about one foot of snow
on Long Island last night.
SNOW DAY!!
No school for Dylan.
No school for me!!!
My awesome husband Paul shoveled the
walkway and the driveway for us.
My plan for today.....
-sweats
-no make-up
-work on the yearbook (I'm the editor)
-read a little on my KINDLE
-watch the scariest move of all time
with my son.

(the Exorcist scares the sh*t out of me
and I can only watch it during the day because
for some reason I think the devil can't
get me when it's light out.)
I know, I know.
*A little side note: Paul went to a
school dance with Linda Blair.
It was right before she made the movie.
CREEPY!!

Slow Go
This is what I am currently reading:

I like it.
I like it a lot, but guess I don't love it because
I'm able to put it down and I've even fallen
asleep reading it.
OK, here is THE ONE NEGATIVE THING
about the Kindle....
ready.....
It doesn't let you know what page you're on.
It only lets you know how far along you are in
a book by PERCENTAGE.
I've been at 44% in this book FOREVER.
I guess it's my fault.
I have the font at size HUMONGOUS.
Dylan can read it from across the room.
So, even though I've been reading for
hours I've only plowed through 8 pages.
It's exhausting!

One Day

Read it yesterday.
When I got home from work.
While I was cooking dinner.
Stayed up until 12:15.
Had to finish it.
It's about a Harvard professor who is diagnosed
with Early Onset Alzheimer's Disease. The story
is told month by month.
Great book!
I
LOVE
MY
KINDLE.
At the rate I'm going, I figure I'll spend about
$3646.65 on books this year.
Hmmmmm.
The Kindle makes it too easy.
I better start watching TV again.
