Someone Has A Birthday Coming Up.....

I found this on his wall.
He made a countdown pad so he can tear
off a number each day.
I just love him!

Resistible

So I just finished reading this:

It was.......good.
It was.....just fine.
It was a lot like Forrest Gump, tales from a man's life
from the time he was an infant, growing up in a
very "interesting" HOUSE.
Throughout his life he comes in contact with some
very famous people, a la Gump.
It was a pretty good read, nothing deep.
The only really problem I had, was with the ending.
The ending pretty much summed up the way
the book was written: it just happened, didn't
explain all that much, but that was just fine.
All in all I found the Irresistible Henry House
pretty resistible - but an okay read.

Sunday Dinner with Paula Dean

I tried something new for dinner tonight.
I made a Paula Dean Recipe
Lady and Sons' Chicken in Wine Sauce
I WISH I had taken pictures of this meal prep.
It was so good and so easy!

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
BUTTER (it is Paula Dean after all)
8 slices of swiss cheese
1 can cream of chicken soup
1/4 c of white wine
1 c seasoned stuffing mix.

Grease a shallow pan.
Add chicken.
Top with cheese
Mix soup and wine
Pour over chicken
Top with stuffing
pour 4 Tbs of melted butter over top
Bake at 350 for 45 minutes.

Ok, sounds good, right?
Well, I made a few adjustments.
AWESOME adjustments!
My additions are in bold type.

6 chicken breasts
top them with prosciutto and make sure it's not too thin
then add swiss cheese
add fresh sliced mushrooms
use 2 cans of cream of mushroom soup
mix with 1/2 c of white wine
pour over chicken
Top with 1 c of stuffing ( I used Arnold stuffing mix because it's not too salty)
THEN fill in with Italian flavored Panko bread crumbs.
Pour 5 TBS butter over.
Bake at 350 for 45 minutes.
Serve with rice.

SO GOOD.

Friday Book Review

So, in the past two weeks I've read two books.

Continuing with my Mormon obsession,
I read:

Not bad.
It's about a second wife in a polygamist family.
It's a true story and, well, really , just crazy.
I love that stuff!
I don't think I'm quite finished with my polygamy obsession.
I found a few more books about it that I'd like to tackle.
AND
I've decided that I want a sister wife - just so she can clean my house.

I just finished:

Very good book about a condition known as left neglect.
Never heard of it.
Good book, like her writing a lot.
This author also wrote one of my favorite books, which is about Alzheimers:

She's very good at putting into words what people affected
by life altering conditions are going through.
(Much MUCH better than I am because it took
me a long time to write that sentence and it still sucks.)

So, I've read 14 books so far this year.
36 more to go to reach my goal for the year.
I LOVE MY KINDLE!!

Kidney Update

I've gotten quite a few emails asking for an update
on Dylan and his kidney situation.

Remember when his urine looked like this?

And he went for a biopsy and looked like this?

Well, he's been diagnosed with kidney disease.
There is NO DAMAGE, which is GREAT!!
He's on blood pressure meds which happen to be
great for the kidneys - who knew?
Next up, he'll start on steroids for 6 months.
All this is to help his kidneys filter correctly
and reduce the amount of blood and protein leaking out.
Other than the kidney stuff, he's totally healthy.
He had no restrictions at all.

And he can continue to imitate vegetables when
we go to the store.
He's found his calling, don't you think?

I Love Mormons!

I am fascinated by Mormons.
I'll read just about anything about them.
I just finished this.

I really liked it!
It's combines epic historical fiction with a modern murder mystery
to create a brilliant novel of literary suspense.
(I got that on-line)

Really good.

I just added Big Love to my Netflix queue.

So about the Mormons...
Have you heard about this?

It's a new Broadway musical by the creators of
SOUTH PARK!
It's opening on March 24th.
The guy I'm married to worked on the show.
Can't wait!
