My Worst Birthday

This is my worst birthday.
And the crazy thing is....
The crazy thing.......
IT'S NOT EVEN MY BIRTHDAY.

Today is Dylan's birthday.

Today Dylan turned 13.

I
AM
THE
MOTHER
OF
A
TEENAGER.

ME!!!!
I have a TEENAGER!!!
When did I get so old?

Seriously, this is worse than when I
turned 30, which didn't bother me one bit.
31 bothered me. I was "in my 30's".
40 didn't bother me at all.
I even forget that I'm 42. I was telling
someone I was 43 and Dylan corrected me.
See??? I don't even KNOW how old I am.

BUT I DO know that I am now the mother of a
TEENAGER!!!

I spent today making cupcakes:

Baseballs.
These are the last 8.
You can tell I was over them by this point.

I asked Dylan if he had a good birthday.
"Um, yeah!"
He rec'd teenager currency (iTunes gift cards)
-tickets to the US Open in June - very excited.
-a "T" rated game for the WII, because he can now play "T" rated games.

We also went out for sushi:

Yeah, today was pretty good, but it's
still my worst birthday.

Kerry,

This is the BEST BIRTHDAY! I remember Dylan's actual birthday and how exciting it was to become a parent with you. And it's been a thrill ride ever since.

I love you,
Paul

Happy Worst Birthday! I think you can count on this birthday only getting worse. Still it has to be exciting.

My condolences. I think I'll freak out when my eldest turns 13. Totally scary!

But, Happy Birthday Dylan! I'm sure to him it's the BEST birthday ever.

And how cute is your husband?

Happy Birthday to Dylan!

I'd be freaking out too...but I freaked out when my oldest turned 5 (now almost 8) & I'll freak out again when she turns 10.

I'm also freakin out that my baby is going into Kindergarten in the Fall....

We can freak out together! LOL!

Congratulations!

I was thinking of this very thing the other day, wondering what mine will be like at "10" or "13".

I hope he had a great birthday for real.
Sounds like he might have!!!

Happy birthday to him!!!! And welcome to the club - I've been mom to a teenager for about 10 months now. And still every now and then I remember I have a teenager and I'm totally and completely shocked.

At least teenage boys aren't as well known for spending the majority of their time glowering at mom and sulking. At least, I hope boys are less intense about that kind of thing, because I don't know about going through this twice.

VERY cute cupcakes, btw.
