I originally called this post "Crazy", but
hectic is more like it.
I've been subbing in Pre-K.
4 year olds.
13 of them.
Love them.
EXHAUSTING!
...and they don't listen.
They just don't seem to hear me.
I hear me.
The other teachers hear me yelling on
the playground, but the kids -
they don't hear me.
Maybe it's a language thing?
Maybe I need to brush up on my
4 year old speak.
"You're not my friend anymore."
"You can't come to my party."
"That's MINE."
"He hit me."
"He hit me first!"
"Gimme!"
"I didn't do it."
"She's lying!"
"It's MY turn!"
"I'm line leader!"
Yeah, I'll practice today.
("She's lying!")

The first time I saw a pre-K class I had a new admiration for the teachers! oy!
Welcome to my world! I get ignored ALL the time! I'm hoping once she turns 5 in a month her ears will turn on & she'll hear me again! HA! God Bless you....can't imagine handling that many at once....I need to lay down! LOL!
It is called selective hearing. My son has it 24 hours a day unless he wants something. It's close accessory is the repeat button. My admiration to you for making through a day!!!!
13 5 year olds...eeek! Are they too young for those games where you clap once to get their attention and they clap twice in response?
Oh yeah, welcome to my world too! Egads. Do you have an assistant or co-teacher with 13, or are you by yourself? The most I've had this year by myself is 11. I can't imagine teaching pre-k4 in public school where they have like over 20 kids and no assistance. What's even the point?!?!?!?
My 3 and 5 year olds are the same way. I swear that their ears turn off until they want them to work. It drives me crazy. I have great admiration for anyone that teaches pre K!
