The "L" word - and I don't mean "love".....

Why does it happen on my watch?? If you read my blog entry yesterday - yes, I'm talking to both of you - you'll know that I taught the art classes yesterday. I thought 8th grade would be tough. I was wrong. The 4th grade had finished up their projects and had free art time. Here we go...Somewhere along the line one little girl told another little girl that she loved her. One of the boys then shouted..."Are you a lesbian?" I told him that school was not the place for this discussion. The two girls then started saying "I'm not" "why did you say that", blah blah. I told them that school was not the place. I didn't make a big deal about it. Then I hear one little girl asking another, "what does that mean?" and the other one starts explaining and I said...
"HEY, this is not the place for this discussion. You can talk about it at home." I told their teacher just in case she got some phone calls, lol.
These kids are 9.
9 years old!
I don't care what a person's sexual preference is. I felt bad for the little girl who was expressing her feelings and then got teased. It's the teasing that I have a problem with. When did 9 year olds start discussing sex? Have I been living under a rock? I guess so.
What do you think?

Yes...little kids these days know way too much about things like that. They aren't kids anymore. Sad.

I am totally shocked... I know... I hate it... just like the "Santa Claus" thing too... geez... can we just have little kids? I blame some parents. I think they talk too much in front of them... etc. My kids are still under a rock and I hope they stay that way!!! Go Rock People!
