I do an awful lot of waiting.
I waited for Dylan's class to return from their field trip.
I got there at 7:30 for an 8:00 return.
They got there at 9:10.
I waited for the boy scouts to leave on their rafting trip.
Scheduled time of departure, 3:45.
We were there on time.
We waited for one last kid to get there...at 4:20.
I waited for the boyscouts to return today.
Arrival time, 1:00. I got there at 12:45.
I waited.
And waited.
Finally got a call, 1:25, that they're running late.
So I ran to the golf course to pick Paul up.
He'd be finished at 1:30.
I waited
and waited
I finally called after the boy scouts called.
He was almost finished - 2:00.
I thought about it and I think I wait because
I don't want anyone else to wait.
If I'm late getting Dylan, then someone has to wait
with him until I get there.
I don't think that's right, so I do the waiting.
I also did a lot of waiting when I was a kid.
If I needed to get picked up somewhere, I called
my parents and they took their time getting me.
It made me nuts, but they were doing their thing and
if I needed to be picked up, I had to wait. It was always
at school or the train station and never if someone had
to wait with me. I was also older, a teenager, but I remember
waiting and I hated it. Why couldn't they be at my beck and call.
Why wouldn't they WANT TO be??
So I wait.
Do you do a lot of waiting?

Lately, all I do is wait. And I agree, my parents didn't wait for me, either.
I think we parents have gotten stupider, from one generation to the next.
Good thing I always bring my notebook, so I can at least get some writing done while I sit.
Before we were a 2 car family, I waited all the time for Tommy. Especially when he was a reporter - I'd wait at school board meetings, village board meetings. I got used to waiting in the car with good tunes and books. And then I waited at a myriad of baseball games. Sometimes in the rain, sometimes in swarms of bugs. And I used to wait all the time to be picked up.
This is so true. We Mommies wait because we want them to know that we are there for them... whenever they are ready for us... beautiful post! Thanks for reminding me. :)
I also am a woman who waits. I detest being late for anything. So, I like you, arrive a few minutes early and wait. And why is it no one else but us hates being late? I always, like you, end up waiting and waiting and waiting. The good part in all the waiting? I knit and hand quilt so I ALWAYS have a project in my bag, in my van, in my hands lol. So at least while I am waiting, my family never makes me wait by the way, they know they are gonna get a lecture if they do lol, for doctors, friends, appointments for whatever, made by whoever is late ugh, at least I am doing something.
I tend to humor my kids a whole lot more than y parents ever did - but it is exhausting !

Unfortunately, yes. I hate it. I can't stand when people are late, and I can't stand being late. But people are late. And I am always on time. So I wait.
And wait.
And wait some more.
Always gotta have a book in my purse, and I'm okay. :)
Ugh! I hate to wait to!
YUP! Every day during the week I wait for quitting time so I can go home. LOL.
Seriously though I am the same way. I hate to have someone to wait on me, but only because I don't want to inconvenience them. :P
I'm a mom.. need I say more... *Ü*
I wait at soccer, lacrosse, swimming, gymnastics, etc. and I am OK with it. I know I should be watching them participate - and I do, sort of but it's my time to read or zone out and just not think. I like not thinking sometimes.
